Helping Philosophy
My overall goal as a student affairs professional is to create a supportive environment for the students I serve and help students to develop and succeed throughout their experiences in higher education. I wish to meet the needs of ALL students so they feel valued, worthy, and connected to others in their campus community. To do so, I aim to serve as a collaborator and advisor while displaying competence in counseling skills. In short, I must be a helper.
Personal Philosophy
As a student affairs professional, I aim to facilitate personal and professional developmental opportunities for the students I service with varying cultural backgrounds. I hope to assist students in reaching their true potential by way of advisement, mentorship, and honesty. By understanding aspirations and limitations, I am able to transfer knowledge about goal-setting and career planning to students in need while maintaining an understanding of cultural perspective. It is my own goal to ensure that each student that enters my office is able to leave with opportunities to further their own development, increased knowledge, and deeper understanding of self.
